Prevention

Monthly Prevention should be used year-round to keep your pet healthy and protect them against harmful parasites. 

Here are the preventions that are available at our clinic. 

We have several different options for dogs and cats. 

Selarid

Selarid is a topical preventative for puppies and kittens less than 5 lbs and at least 6 weeks of age. It repels or prevents flea eggs, heartworms, fleas, and ticks. It kills or treats fleas, roundworms, hookworms, and ear mites. 

Simparica trio

Simparica Trio is a chewable tablet for dogs starting at 8 weeks of age and weighing at least 2.8 lbs. It prevents heartworm disease, kills fleas before they can lay eggs, and kills 5 types of ticks. It also treats and controls flea infestations, roundworms, and hookworms. 

Interceptor plus

Interceptor Plus is a monthly chewable tablet for dogs starting at 6  weeks of age and at least 2 lbs. It prevents heartworm disease. It also treats and controls roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, and tapeworms. 

Credelio FOR DOGS

Credelio is a pill that is a monthly preventative for fleas and ticks. It can also be used to treat flea and tick infestations. This oral preventative must be given with food or within 30 minutes of feeding. 

CREDELIO FOR CATS

Credelio for cats is the same preventative as for dogs. It is administered orally and must be given with food. 

Revolution Plus 

Revolution Plus is a topical for cats starting at 8 weeks of age and weighing at least 2.8 lbs. It is a monthly preventative administered by applying the liquid to the base of the cat's neck on the skin between the shoulder blades. It kills fleas before they lay eggs, prevents heartworm disease, and kills ticks. It also treats and controls ear mites, roundworms, and hookworms. 

cheristan

Cheristan is a topical flea treatment and prevention for cats starting at 8 weeks of age and weighing at least 1.8 lbs. Its fast-acting and long-lasting formula starts killing fleas in 30 minutes and kills 98-100% of fleas within 12 hours. It is a monthly prevention that should be used year-round.
